What is at-home teeth whitening?
The process of at-home teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure that allows you to achieve white and radiant teeth in the comfort of your own home, using a professional and personalized kit.

How is the process carried out?
In the first step, Dr. Preiss will take precise measurements of your teeth using a special impression material.
A dental technician will prepare custom trays for your teeth based on the measurements taken.
Using the Whitening Gel:
The custom trays are used to deliver the whitening gel to your teeth in a precise and effective manner.
The trays need to be worn on the teeth for a duration ranging from one hour to overnight, depending on the chosen whitening method.

WHY BE CAREFUL WITH OVER THE COUNTER MEDICINES
Home remedies like using salt, lemon, and baking soda may seem like an easy and inexpensive solution for teeth whitening, but they can cause irreversible damage to your teeth. Excessive abrasion and the use of non-professional methods can lead to the need for costly corrective treatments in the future. It’s better to seek professional treatment that guarantees results without risk.

Possible results and side effects
Side Effects: Some patients may experience mild tooth sensitivity, which typically subsides within about 48 hours. During this time, it’s recommended to avoid hot or cold drinks and foods.
Professional Whitening Systems for At-Home Teeth Whitening
The most popular at-home whitening systems include Zoom, Opalescence, BriteSmile, and Enlighten. Each system offers unique benefits, and Dr. Preiss will help you choose the one best suited to your needs.
Adjustment for home teeth whitening
Not everyone is a candidate for teeth whitening. If you have gum disease or other dental issues, the treatment may not be suitable for you. It’s also important to know that whitening does not change the color of crowns, veneers, or white fillings, so you might need to replace them to match the color of the whitened teeth.

Tips for preventing the formation of stains on the teeth
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is key to keeping your teeth white over time. Avoid smoking, coffee, and other stain-causing foods. Using stain-preventing toothpaste can also help, but it’s important to choose high-quality and proven products.

Instructions for use for home teeth whitening
- Remove the trays from the plastic box and ensure they are clean.
- Apply a small amount of gel to each tooth, between the teeth as demonstrated by Dr. Preiss
- Remember not to use too much gel to avoid gum sensitivity. One tube is sufficient for 4-6 complete whitening treatments.
- Brush your teeth, use dental floss, and make sure your mouth is relatively dry before using the trays.
- Place the upper and lower trays on your teeth, gently position them with your fingers, and then bite down lightly to ensure proper placement.
- Leave the trays on your teeth for up to one hour only. CHANGE to “for between 1 hour to overnight as advised by your dentist , every treatment is customised “”.
- Remove the trays over a sink, rinse the trays and your mouth with cold water. Brush your teeth and the trays with water only to remove any gel residue and dry carefully .
- Avoid eating or drinking anything with staining potential for one hour after removing the trays.
- Store the trays in a safe place when not in use, inside the retainer boxes you were given
- You may experience increased sensitivity to cold for an hour or two after treatment, which should subside. If sensitivity becomes a problem, consult Dr. Ilan Preiss for further advice.
